In 2025, China's steel production amounted to 960.812 million tons, which is 4.4 percent less than in the previous year, while steel exports amounted to 119 million tons, which is 7.5 percent more than in the previous year.
Zhao Mine stressed that the period of the 15th five-year plan (2026:30) is a critical stage for the steel industry to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system. The steel industry will face changes, including a marked imbalance between supply and demand, relatively low industry concentration, weak resource security, increasing profit pressures, and a difficult trading environment.
As 2026 is the first year of the 15th five-year plan, the CISA president called on steelmakers in China to continue reforming and address complex issues to boost the pace of development.;
