Turkey's national gas supply company BOTAŞ has completed a tender for the purchase of steel pipes for the Kulunchak-Elazig gas pipeline, according to Turkish media reports.
The contract was awarded to Mazlum Mangtay, a domestic manufacturer of spiral-welded steel pipes located in the Adana Haji Sabanji Organized Industrial Zone, with an offer of 821.7 million Turkish liras ($18.84 million). Four bidders participated in the tender, which had an estimated value of 940 million Turkish liras (21.55 million US dollars).
The project will cover almost 164 km of pipeline
A total of 163,948 meters of steel pipes will be purchased as part of the project. The pipeline will stretch for about 164 kilometers and will have a diameter of 20 inches.
The project is considered as a strategic investment aimed at strengthening the security of natural gas supplies in Elazig province. In addition to the main pipeline, the project includes a horizontal directional drilling section with a length of 846 meters, as well as devices for launching and receiving scrapers, linear and station fittings.
The total pipeline construction period is expected to last about 900 days.
