Iron ore imports to Turkey decreased by 3.6 percent in 2025

Last December, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 694,921 metric tons, up 20.4 percent from November and down 24.8 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $76.73 million, an increase of 20.3% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 6.1% year-on-year.

In 2025, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 9.64 million tons, down 3.6 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 15.6 percent to $1.20 billion, year-on-year.

Iron ore imports to Turkey - the last 12 months

During the specified period, Brazil was the largest source of iron ore imports to Turkey with 6.10 million tons, which is 15.6 percent more than in the previous year. Brazil was followed by Russia with 875,243 tons and Sweden with 660,718 tons, an increase of 76 percent and a decrease of 33.3 percent year-on-year, respectively.
