Exports of wire rod from Brazil reached 69,600 tons in January 2026 against 28,000 tons in December 2025, according to the SECEX foreign trade agency.
The increase reflects an increase in exports to the United States (39,800 tons at $683/t) versus 3,900 tons at $702/t in December.
The remaining 29,800 tons were shipped to South American countries for an average of $589/ton
The exporters were ArcelorMittal (69,000 tons) and Gerdau (600 tons).
Meanwhile, Brazil imported 4,200 tons of wire rod in January against 3,500 tons in December.
The sources of imports in January were Egypt (2,200 tons at $588/t), Russia (1,300 tons at $482/t), China (500 tons at $676/t), Europe (100 tons at $864/t) and Argentina (100 tons at $1.12/t)
