Pig iron imports to Turkey increased by 61.7 percent in 2025

Last December, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 176,417 metric tons, down 39.9 percent from November and 5.3 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports amounted to $60.47 million, down 40.2 percent from the previous month and 12.5 percent year-on-year.

In 2025, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 2.33 million tons, an increase of 61.7 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 38.9 percent to $833.14 million, year-on-year.

During this period, Russia was the largest source of pig iron imports to Turkey, which supplied 1.83 million tons, which is 95.8% more than last year. Russia is followed by Kazakhstan with 146,617 tons, which is 41 percent less, and India with 110,000 tons, which is 212.5 percent more compared to the same period last year.
