Meanwhile, shipments of hot-rolled strip to Japan totaled 1.33 million tons in December, up 6.5 percent from the previous month and down 6.9 percent year-on-year. 19.6 percent of the shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 80.4 percent were exported. Japan's hot-rolled strip production totaled 1.26 million tons this month, up 3.5% month-on-month and down 10.2% year-on-year.
Japanese shipments of HRP and HRS increased by one percent in December 2025 compared to November
Last December, shipments of hot-rolled rolled products to Japan increased by one percent from the previous month and decreased by 4.1 percent from the 674,120 tons recorded in the same month of 2024, totaling 646,487 metric tons, according to the Japan Federation of Ferrous Metallurgy (JISF). In the specified month, 69.9 percent of shipments went to the domestic market, and the remaining 30.1 percent went to export markets. In this month, the production of hot-rolled rolled products in Japan amounted to 660,674 tons, which is 1.7 percent less month-on-month and 0.4 percent less year-on-year.
