Mining assets were acquired from Vale in 2022, including a mine and a port, with integrated river logistics and the use of a filtration-based production process that eliminates the use of a waste dam.
The expansion will focus on the creation of a long-distance conveyor belt system and a railway terminal with an area dedicated to the replenishment of ore reserves. The conveyor belt will cover 13 sites in 9 rural areas, with the state government declaring the area a public utility to simplify negotiations between LHG and landowners.
Upon completion of the expansion, LHG will take the fourth place among Brazilian iron ore producers after Vale, CSN Mineração and Anglo American.
