Brazil exported 16,500 tons of plates in January 2026, up from 30,700 tons in December 2025, according to SISCOMEX. The decline reflects the lack of exports to Pakistan, where 14,500 tonnes of product were shipped in December 2025.
Exports in December were destined for South America (16,200 tonnes at US$681 per tonne) and Trinidad and Tobago (300 tonnes at US$704 per tonne) FOB. Exporters were Gerdau (16,000 tons), ArcelorMittal (300 tons) and CSN (100 tons), a small volume was shipped by traders.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported 1,200 tons of plates in January this year compared to 3,700 tons in December last year. Import sources were China (700 tons at a price of 619 US dollars per ton) and Europe (500 tons at a price of 1227 US dollars per ton), also on FOB terms.
