Australian miner Rio Tinto announced financial results for 2025.
The company's net profit for 2025 was $9.96 billion, compared to $11.55 billion in 2024. In 2025, the company's consolidated sales revenue increased 7.9 percent to $54.04 billion compared to 2024. The company's underlying EBITDA for the period was $25.36 billion, up 8.8% year-on-year.
Rio Tinto said the company's iron ore production remained its largest profit driver despite lower selling prices during the year. In Western Australia's Pilbara region, production was broadly unchanged at 327.3 million tonnes on a 100 per cent basis, while deliveries were 326.2 million tonnes, reflecting a slight year-on-year decline following cyclone disruptions in the first quarter, which were later offset by record production rates and strong shipments in the second half. The average realized price of Pilbara iron ore decreased to $90.0 per dry metric tonne on an FOB basis, resulting in an 11 percent decline in the segment's underlying EBITDA to $15.2 billion, although the business still generated $10.6 billion in operating cash flow and $6.1 billion in free cash flow. Pilbara unit cash costs were $23.5 per tonne raw water, slightly higher year-on-year due to inflation, higher work index and cyclone restoration costs, partly mitigated by increased productivity. In Canada, the Iron Ore Company of Canada recorded slightly lower production of 9.3 million tons.
