Ukrainian steel pipe and railway wheel manufacturer Interpipe has announced that its KLW brand railway products are supplying railway wheels for high-speed passenger trains in Turkey.
The company has supplied 850 mm railway wheels made from ER8 grade 1 steel for the HT 65000 passenger trains, which operate at speeds of up to 250 km/h. The trains are used on routes operated by YHT, Turkey's flagship high-speed rail service connecting the western and eastern regions of the country.
A key technical requirement was to maintain a precisely controlled range of rim hardness to meet stringent quality standards and production requirements.
The company emphasized that the production of passenger wheels is more technologically complex than freight, with each the railway operator applies various standards and certification procedures.
Expanding presence in the passenger wheel segment
KLW said it has been supplying wheels to the Turkish railway market for a long time and understands local technical requirements. The YHT line marks a strategic step in expanding its position in the high-speed segment in Turkey and the region as a whole.
