In January of this year, Japan's crude steel production increased 2.8 percent from the previous month and decreased 0.5 percent from January 2025, totaling 6.75 million tons, according to data released by the Japan Federation of Ferrous Metallurgy (JISF).
Meanwhile, Japan's pig iron production totaled 4.97 million metric tons in the month, up 3.4 percent from the previous month and down two percent year-on-year.
