Thai steel manufacturer Sahaviriya Steel Industries (SSI) has taken a strategic step towards creating a systematic green steel supply chain across the upstream, downstream and downstream sectors through its SSI GREEN initiative, according to media reports. The company officially launched its sustainable steel label "SSI Green" and highlighted the commercial introduction of low-carbon hot-rolled coil products.
In addition, SSI announced the successful production and supply of low-carbon hot-rolled steel to customers in Thailand, including the first commercial deliveries under the brand. The products were made using cleaner production methods and materials sourced from environmentally friendly processes, supporting Thailand's national goal of Net Zero by 2050.
The company said its green steel initiative represents not only an environmental step, but also a strategic economic opportunity to increase transparency, reduce emissions across the steel value chain and support Thailand's industrial growth in an era of sustainable global trade.
