According to the American Institute of Cast Iron and Steel (AISI), for the week ended February 21, 2026, domestic crude steel production in the United States amounted to 1,817 million tons, and the capacity utilization factor was 78.5%.
Production for the week ending February 21, 2026 increased by 0.9% compared to the previous week ending February 14, 2026, when production was 1,800 million tons and capacity utilization was 77.8%.
Production for the week ending February 21, 2025, amounted to 1,705 million tons, and the capacity utilization factor was 76.5%. Production this week represents an increase of 6.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Adjusted production from the beginning of the year to February 21, 2026 amounted to 13.174 million tons of net with a capacity utilization factor of 76.7 percent. This is a 4.3 percent increase compared to 12.617 million tons of net in the same period last year, when the capacity utilization rate was 76.4 percent.
