S. Department of Commerce, monthly steel exports from the United States decreased by 16.6 percent in December last year compared with November and decreased by 23.4 percent year-on-year to 425,735 tons. In value terms, steel exports to the United States totaled $844.38 million in December, compared with $958.78 million in November and $969.34 million in December 2024.
Steel exports to Mexico in December decreased by 17.2% compared to November and decreased by 17.4% year-on-year to 248,063 tons, while exports to Canada decreased by 11.8% month-on-month and 31.2% compared to December 2024 to 149,222 tons.
Other major steel export destinations to the United States in December included Brazil with 4,392 tons, India with 2,242 tons and China with 1,635 tons
The main steel products exported in December include 74,696 tons of HDG, 36,182 tons of hot-rolled sheets, 61,332 tons of cut-length steel sheets, 38,746 tons of cold-rolled sheets, and 23,434 tons of rolled sheets.
