S. Department of Commerce census, monthly steel imports to the United States in December last year decreased by 3.7 percent compared to November and decreased by 26.1 percent year-on-year to 1,433,072 tons. In value terms, U.
S. steel imports totaled $1.53 billion in December, compared with $1.56 billion in November and $2.33 billion in December 2024.
The main sources of steel imports to the United States in December are: Brazil with 233,409 metric tons, Canada with 212,307 metric tons, South Korea with 151,251 metric tons and Mexico with 124,352 metric tons.
By product group, imports of semi-finished products amounted to 367,385 tons in December, compared with 490,096 tons in November and 268,859 tons in December 2024. Imports of flat products totaled 411,765 tons in December, compared with 408,752 tons in November and 874,434 tons in December 2024. Imports of long products totaled 326,959 tons in December, compared with 224,512 tons in November and 336,584 tons in December 2024. Pipe imports totaled 261,204 tons in December, compared with 298,614 tons in November and 375,973 tons in December 2024.
