India's steel production during the first 10 months (April-January) of FY 2025-26 is provisionally estimated at 138.8 million tonnes, up 10.6% from the previous year, according to the Joint Plants Committee (JPC) of the steel ministry on Wednesday, February 26.
As per the data, finished steel production in India during the period stood at 132.26 million tons, which is 9.7% more than in the previous year. The data showed that steel consumption during the period stood at about 133.74 percent, up 6.6 percent from last year.
The country's finished steel exports during the first 10 months of FY 2025-26 stood at about 5.48 million tonnes, up 37.2 percent, while imports fell 41.4 percent to 4.90 million tonnes on an annual basis calculus.
