Indian iron ore government research and development (R&D) center NMDC limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT-Hyderabad) to collaborate on green steel, iron technology and critical minerals, said a joint statement on Friday, February 27.
The partnership aims to strengthen innovative solutions that support sustainable steel production and improve resource sustainability of India. The collaboration will focus on developing next generation iron production processes, low carbon technologies and efficient use of mineral resources in line with global sustainable development goals, the statement said.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, NMDC limited and IIT-Hyderabad will jointly undertake research projects, technology development and pilot projects on:
- green steel and iron production low emissions, beneficiation and value addition of critical minerals, process optimization and waste reduction and circular economy approaches in mining and metals.
