According to the latest data from the US International Trade Commission, US scrap metal exports totaled 1,006,992 tons in December 2025, down 19.5% month-on-month and up 22.1% year-on-year.
Turkey was the largest recipient of US scrap metal exports in December with 431,773 tons, up 5.7% higher month-on-month and 139.9% higher year-on-year. Other notable destinations in December included Thailand with 104,437 metric tons, Mexico with 73,048 metric tons and Taiwan with 58,019 metric tons.
In value terms, US scrap metal exports totaled $471.3 million in December 2025, up from $545.1 million in November and $ 377.7 million in December 2024.
