Japanese supplier of furnaces and combustion technologies Chugai Ro Co., Ltd. He announced that he had supplied a demonstration furnace for heating metal with hydrogen to the Japanese steel plant Kobe Steel Takasago in Japan.
According to Chugai Ro, the newly delivered furnace uses hydrogen burners and has a total combustion capacity of 2,791 kW with four burners, making it one of the largest hydrogen heating furnaces currently operating in Japan. The furnace is designed to ensure uniform temperature distribution inside the furnace chamber, whether fired exclusively with urban gas, hydrogen, or a combination of hydrogen and urban gas. Chugai Ro pointed out that the system provides flexible fuel switching, allowing operators to adjust the combustion configuration depending on the availability of hydrogen and operational requirements.
The technology supplier said it would continue to develop combustion equipment and industrial furnaces using carbon-free energy sources to support the transition to a zero-carbon society.
