Baker Hughes reported that in the week ending March 6, 2026, the number of rotary drilling rigs in the United States increased by one rig per week to 551.
The number of drilling rigs for gas production decreased by two to 132, while the number of drilling rigs for oil production, it increased by four to 411. The total number of drilling rigs in the United States decreased by 41 installations compared to last year.
Meanwhile, the number of drilling rigs in Canada decreased by nine to 205 rigs in the week ended March 6. The number of drilling rigs in Canada decreased by 29 compared to the same reporting period in the previous year.
