U.S. imports of tin plate totaled 79,401 tons last December, down 18.9 percent from November and down 31.0 percent year over year, according to preliminary U.S. Commerce Department census data. In value terms, tin plate imports were $96.88 million in December last year, up from $136.46 million in November and $167.09 million in December 2024.
The US imported the most tin plates from China in December with 25,894 tonnes, up from 750 tonnes in November and 19,526 tonnes in December 2024. Other major sources of tin plate imports in December include Taiwan with 12,343 tons, Canada with 10,300 tons, Germany with 9,906 tons, Turkey with 6,163 tons and South Korea with 4,003 tons.
