According to Primetals, the upgraded furnace installation is equipped with a newly developed furnace tilt device, which improves the accuracy of movement and speed of operation. The project also includes the integration of an electromagnetic agitator (EMS) system supplied by ABB, designed to improve furnace performance. The manufacturer stated that the upgrade is intended to improve operational reliability, energy efficiency, furnace availability and maintainability at the facility.
Brownfield installation completed within four weeks
According to Primetals Technologies, the project required the integration of new mechanical and hydraulic components into the existing furnace infrastructure at the Çolakoğlu Metalurji plant. The manufacturer noted that the upgrade included aligning the new tilt mechanism and EMS system with the existing furnace shell, foundations, and plant infrastructure, as the project was completed in a brownfield environment.
Primetals stated that the entire scope of work, including dismantling, structural adjustments, reinstallation and commissioning, was completed within four weeks.
