In January-February of this year, the total volume of steel production in Ukraine amounted to 796.7 thousand tons compared with 957,000 tons for the same period in 2025, according to data published by the Association of Steel Producers Ukrmetallurgprom. About 548,100 tons or 68.8 percent of total steel production were exported, while 248,600 tons or 31.2 percent were consumed by the domestic market. In January-February 2025, 607,600 tons or 63.4 percent of total steel production were shipped abroad, while domestic sales amounted to 349,400 tons or 26.5 percent of total steel production. As a result, total steel exports fell by 9.8 percent, while total domestic steel sales decreased by 28.8 percent year-on-year.
During the specified period, exports of flat rolled products increased by 10.6 percent to 321,100 tons, while exports of semi-finished steel products amounted to 185,800 tons, which is 7.9 percent less than in the same period last year. In January-February, exports of long-gauge steel amounted to 41,200 tons, a decrease of 64.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
The share of semi-finished products in exports in the first two months was 33.90 percent, slightly higher than the 33.21 percent recorded in the same period of 2025, while the share of flat rolled products in exports was 55.58 percent, rising above the 47.78 percent recorded in the same period of the previous year.
