According to a company statement on Thursday, March 19, the Indian state-owned steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) achieved the highest ever annual production at its "new sheet mill (NPM)" - 932,400 tons.
The company stated that the previous highest level of steel sheet production at NPM was achieved at 931,919 tons in 2024-25.
The highest level of sheet metal production was achieved a few weeks before the close of the 2025-26 fiscal year, the company said in a statement.
Production included the rolling of thinner grades and special steel sheets designed for specialized industrial applications, as well as supplies for critical defense and infrastructure sectors, the company said.
