S. Department of Commerce census, imports of hot-dip galvanized sheets to the United States totaled 97,961 tons in January this year, up 5.4 percent from December and 49.0 percent less than in January 2025. In value terms, HDG imports totaled $98.09 million in January 2025, compared with $89.81 million in the previous month and $222.19 million in the same month of 2025.
The United States imported the largest amount of HDG from Canada in January with 44,455 tons, compared with 45,714 tons in December and 78,165 tons in January 2025. Other main sources of imported HDG in January include South Korea with 22,500 metric tons, Germany with 6,282 metric tons, and Austria with 5,876 metric tons
