India's Jindal Steel limited (JSL) has completed the 6 million tonne expansion of its steel plant at Angul, Odisha, with the commissioning of the third oxygen furnace 3 (BOF3), the company said in a statement on Tuesday, March 24.
After burning out the blast furnace and completing the expansion project, JSL's Angul steel plant now has a capacity of 12 million tonnes per annum. JSL's total installed capacity across all operations in the country is currently approximately 15 million tonnes per annum.
The expansion includes the full commissioning of Converter 2 and Converter 3, supported by a full range of associated facilities. The project includes the development of upstream and downstream infrastructure to ensure seamless integration and capacity expansion, the company said.
The expanded capability is positioned to provide multiple operational and financial benefits. The increased production capacity is expected to lead to higher volumes and higher capacity utilization rates, which will directly support revenue growth initiatives.
