Austria's Benteler Group has announced a €17 million investment to expand pipe production capacity at its Schloß Neuhaus plant in Paderborn, Germany.
The investment is part of the company's strategy to strengthen its Steel/Tube division and strengthen its position among Europe's leading producers of seamless and welded steel pipes.
Increasing capacity to meet automotive demand
The expansion is expected to increase production capacity at the site by approximately 15 percent, allowing Benteler to better respond to growing demand, particularly from the automotive sector.
The project is focused on seamless and cold-drawn pipes used in applications such as tubing airbags and rotor shafts.
New production line and equipment upgrades
Investment includes installation of a new production line for exhaust pipes, including drawing preparation, lifting and additional heat treatment capacity. The project also covers integrated systems for straightening, testing and cutting, as well as upgrades to quality control, preservation and packaging processes. The stand is scheduled to be operational by the end of May, and additional capacity for cutting short sections of pipe will also be introduced.
Schloß Neuhaus currently produces approximately 160,000 tons of pipes per year, with approximately 250,000 pipes produced and supplied to customers around the world daily
