South Africa's International Trade Commission announced that it had imposed final anti-dumping duties on imports of certain flat rolled steel products after concluding that dumped imports from China, Japan and Taiwan had caused significant harm to the domestic industry.
The investigation, launched in September 2024, found that imports of hot-rolled flat products from three countries were assessed below normal values, resulting in significant negative consequences for the domestic industry.
According to the data received, dumped imports led to lower and suppressed prices, lower sales and production volumes, lower capacity utilization and falling profitability.
The final anti-dumping duties are in the range of 6.99-47.93 percent for Chinese companies, 44.95 percent for Japanese Nippon Steel and 57.23 percent for other Japanese companies and 24.20 percent for Taiwan.
The products fall under HS codes 7208.10, 7208.25, 7208.26, 7208.27, 7208.36, 7208.37, 7208.38, 7208.39, 7208.51, 7208.52, 7225.30 and 7225.40.
