According to the official, the two mines will have a combined capacity of 27 million tons per year.
Currently, CIL operates 79 coal mines with a combined capacity of 39.35 million tons.
One of the new mines with a capacity of 15 million tons will be built at the Balaram-Hingula mining complex in Angul district in the eastern state of Odisha. The other, with a capacity of 12 million tons per year, will be built at the Kulda-Garjanbahal mines in Jarsugud, also in Odisha.
