S. Department of Commerce, tin plate imports to the United States totaled 58,783 tons in January this year, down 25.9 percent from December and down 41.9 percent year-on-year. In value terms, tin plate imports totaled $77.43 million in January this year, compared with $96.88 million in December and $146.64 million in January 2025.
The United States imported the largest amount of tin plates from Taiwan in January, at 21,326 tons, compared with 12,343 tons in December and 9,484 tons in January 2025. Other main sources of tin plate imports in January include the Netherlands with 9,579 metric tons, South Korea with 7,818 metric tons, Canada with 7,047 metric tons, Spain with 4,549 metric tons, and China with 3,866 metric tons
