According to the American Institute of Iron and Steel (AISI), for the week ending March 28, 2026, domestic production of raw steel in the United States amounted to 1,803 million net tons, and the capacity utilization rate was 77.9 percent.
Production for the week ending March 28, 2026 increased by 1.2 percent compared to the previous week ending March 21, 2026, when production was 1.781 million net tons and capacity utilization was 77.0 percent.
Production totaled 1,703 million net tons for the week ended March 28, 2025, and capacity utilization was 76.5 percent. Production this week represents an increase of 5.9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Adjusted production from the beginning of the year to March 28, 2026 amounted to 22.197 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 77.2 percent. This is 5.0 percent more than 21.143 million net tons in the same period last year, when the capacity utilization rate was 76.4 percent.
