The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Trade has announced the final duty rates for imports of semi-finished products from all countries of origin.
Accordingly, from April 2 until September 13, imports of semi-finished products into Egypt will be subject to a duty of 13 percent of the CIF import value, a minimum of US$70 per tonne. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, duties will be reduced over the next two years at a rate of 12 percent of CIF import value, with a minimum of $64/t, for the period from September 14, 2026 to September 13, 2027, and at a rate of 11 percent of CIF import value, with a minimum of $59/t, for the period thereafter.
In the meantime, quarterly reviews will be conducted to assess the impact of the protective measure on the market, according to local media.
