Italian equipment manufacturer Danieli Technologies announced that Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has achieved a major milestone with its Fastarc Zerobucket electric arc furnace in Shanghai, achieving record production levels and increasing operational efficiency.
According to the manufacturer, this recognition follows the achievement of a target set in January 2026, with a monthly output of more than 100,000 tons of liquid steel and reducing operating costs by approximately 200 yuan/meter. The new smelter was delivered by Danieli in 2023 and recently reached 31 melts per day, setting a new 10-year record. The project required complex coordination due to the limitations of the existing plant structure, tight schedules and duplication of operations across multiple production areas.
After the installation phase, the furnace was put into operation and production capacity was gradually optimized with a charge mixture based on scrap in the range of 60-100 percent and liquid metal in the range of 0-40 percent. According to Danieli, energy consumption was significantly reduced and daily and weekly production targets were consistently achieved.
