Between January and March this year, sales of heavy trucks (including chassis and tractors) in China totaled 309,000 units, increasing 17.0 percent year on year, according to preliminary data released by cvworld.cn, a Chinese information service provider for the auto industry.
In March alone, heavy truck sales in China totaled 130,000 units, increasing 76.6 percent month-on-month, while increasing 17.0 percent year-over-year, which was the highest March level in the past five years.
The trucking industry began to resume operations and production in March, resulting in improved demand for heavy-duty trucks. Meanwhile, the onset of the traditional peak business season had a positive impact on heavy truck sales.
