Egypt's Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade announced the termination of anti-dumping investigations into imports of cold rolled coil (CRC), galvanized steel and pre-painted steel from China and Turkey without the imposition of anti-dumping duties.
The decision was based on the following rationales:
- Existing safeguards: definitive safeguards have already been imposed on imports in the same category products under a separate safeguard investigation.
- Adequacy of Remedies: Existing remedies have been found to provide sufficient redress for the damages suffered by the domestic industry.
- Public Interest: Considering the public interest, there is no longer a need to impose anti-dumping duties along with existing safeguards.
Despite termination without duties, the Ministry found that imports from China and Turkey entered the Egyptian market at dumped prices during the investigation period from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024, and material damage was caused to the domestic industry, which coincided with an absolute and relative increase in these dumped imports.
The products currently fall under codes 7209, 7210, 7211, 7212, 7225 and 7226.
