During the first week of the new EU quota period from April 1 to June 30, some import quotas for certain steel products allocated to India, China, Vietnam, Turkey and Algeria were exceeded, while more than 70 percent of the quotas for certain steel products were used up.
Looking at the quotas exceeded, India exceeded quotas of 225,305 tons for HRC (1A), 31,765 tons of stainless steel rods and light profiles and 5,886 tons of seamless stainless pipes, with 349,580 tons, 53,355 tons and 8,972 tons of these products respectively waiting in EU ports. The country has also exceeded the quota of 7,428 tons for tin products classified as “other countries”, with 10,711 tons of these products awaiting customs clearance. China has exhausted its quotas for metal-coated sheets (4B) in the amount of 128,348 tons, other seamless pipes - 34,427 tons and sheet piles - 7,006 tons, while 294,920 tons, 46,470 tons and 7,029 tons of these products are expected in EU ports respectively.
As for quotas, allocated for Turkey, the country exceeded the quotas for wire rod by 98,153 tons, for hollow sections by 84,033 tons, for large-diameter welded pipes (25B) by 14,946 tons, while 131,157 tons, 112,679 tons and 26,572 tons of these products are awaiting customs clearance, respectively. In addition, the country has also exceeded the quota of 7,428 tons for sheet metal products allocated to “other countries”, with 10,324 tons of these products waiting in EU ports.
In terms of quotas allocated to “other countries”, the quota of 104,884 tons for metal-coated sheets (4B) was exceeded, with 112,532 tons these products are expected. for customs clearance. Vietnam has exceeded its quota of 10,725 tons for organic coated sheets classified as "other countries", with 17,590 tons of these products awaiting customs clearance.
