French green iron producer GravitHy has announced that it has selected Hatch Ltd., a global leader in design and delivery of projects, to carry out front-end engineering design (FEED) for its planned low-carbon iron production facility in Fos-sur-Mer.
The FEED phase is a critical stage in project development, defining the technical scope, cost estimates and implementation strategy before the final investment proposal is made. solutions.
FEED stage to determine the roadmap for project implementation
Under the FEED contract Hatch Ltd. will provide detailed design, cost estimating and project planning services. Within the scope of FEED, Hatch will be responsible for:
- defining the complete technical configuration of the plant;
- process integration and energy system design;
- detailed process and energy balances;
- manufacturability, logistics and integration studies at site;
- cost estimation, implementation strategy and project schedule;
- preparing tender packages for the next stages of the project.
Completion of the FEED phase will be a key milestone in moving the project towards construction.
The project aims to produce low-carbon iron in Europe
The planned facility will focus on direct reduced iron (DRI) production using low carbon technologies, supporting Europe's transition to greener steel production. The Fos-sur-Mer facility is intended for
