According to Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel, the company began production testing on its next-generation hot rolling line at its Nagoya plant on April 1, 2026.
The manufacturer said that since construction began in May 2022, the project has progressed through foundation work, building construction, equipment installation and commissioning of individual units.
According to Nippon Steel, the new hot rolling line at its Nagoya plant will have annual production capacity of about 6 million tons with a total investment of about 270 billion yen.
The company noted that commercial production is planned to begin in August 2026, and the current hot rolling line is planned to be closed in fiscal year 2026.
