Thyssenkrupp Materials Services announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Mexico's Aceroteca Trading, marking a strategic move to expand its presence in North America and support growing trends overseas.
Aceroteca operates a processing and service center for flat-rolled carbon steel in Santa Catarina, part of the Monterrey metropolitan area, one of the Mexico's most important industrial regions.
The facility offers a modern and scalable processing platform that enables closer proximity to customers, shorter lead times and increased supply chain efficiency. According to Heather Weidekop, CEO of the Processing business unit, the deal strengthens the company's ability to adapt to localized production and distribution requirements.
Expanding capabilities and customer reach
Aceroteca currently supplies sectors such as heating, cooling and power transmission, as well as providing additional power for both existing and new customers. The deal is expected to expand the presence of coil recycling group Thyssenkrupp Materials Services in the region. While the initial focus remains on carbon steel flat products, the platform offers potential for expansion into additional product segments.
