China's iron ore imports Increased by 10.5% in January-March 2026

According to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), in the period from January to March of this year, imports of iron ore to China amounted to 314.762 million tons, which is 10.5% more than in the previous year.

In March alone, China's iron ore imports totaled 104.743 million tons, up 7.6% from the previous month.

After winter maintenance stops, Chinese steelmakers traditionally increase their stocks of raw materials in March, which is a seasonal factor in iron ore imports. Meanwhile, although the real estate sector remains weak, the growth in infrastructure investment is balancing the decline in the real estate market, supporting demand for iron ore.
