According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), for the week ended April 18, 2026, domestic crude steel production in the United States was 1.848 million net tons, and the capacity utilization rate was 80.0 percent.
Production for the week ended April 18, 2026 increased 0.3 percent compared to the previous week ended April 11 2026, when production was 1.843 million net tons and a capacity utilization rate of 79.8 percent.
Production was 1.684 million net tons for the week of April 18, 2025, with a capacity utilization rate of 75.0 percent. Production for the current week represents an increase of 9.7 percent year-over-year.
Adjusted year-to-date production through April 18, 2026 was 27.719 million net tons at a capacity utilization rate of 77.7 percent. This is up 5.8 percent from 26.203 million net tons in the same period last year, when the capacity utilization rate was 76.1 percent.
