In January-March of this year, the total volume of steel production in Ukraine amounted to 1.34 million tons compared with 1.44 million tons for the same period in 2025, according to data published by the Association of Steel Producers of Ukraine Ukrmetallurgprom. About 820,000 tons or 61.1 percent of total steel production were exported, while 521,000 tons or 38.9 percent were consumed by the domestic market. Between January and March 2025, 908,000 tons or 63.3 percent of total steel production were shipped abroad, while domestic sales totaled 527,000 tons or 36.7 percent of total steel production. As a result, total steel exports fell by 9.7 percent, while total domestic steel sales decreased by 1.1 percent year-on-year.
During the specified period, exports of flat rolled products decreased by 1.6 percent to 426,000 tons, while exports of semi-finished steel products totaled 324,000 tons, an increase of 8.4 percent year-on-year. In the period from January to March, exports of long steel amounted to 70,000 tons, a decrease of 60.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
The share of semi-finished products in exports in the first three months was 39.51 percent, slightly higher than the 32.93 percent recorded in the same period of 2025, while the share of flat rolled products in exports was 51.95 percent, rising above the 47.69 percent recorded in the same period of the previous year.
