In the euro area, seasonally adjusted construction sector production fell 0.2 percent month-on-month and 1.9 percent year-on-year in February. In January, production decreased by 1.3 percent month-on-month.
Construction of buildings in the EU-27 increased 0.7 percent month-on-month in February and decreased 7.2 percent year-on-year, while the volume of civil engineering in the region increased 0.5 percent month-on-month and decreased 2.7 percent year-on-year. In the euro area, the volume of building construction increased by 0.2 percent month-on-month and decreased by 8.1 percent year-on-year, while the volume of civil engineering in the region increased by 0.2 percent month-on-month and decreased by 1.9 percent year-on-year.
Compared to January, construction volume in February increased by 8.7 percent in Romania, 5.5 percent in Slovenia and 5.4 percent in Slovakia, while in the eurozone it decreased by 3.7 percent. Poland grew by 1.4 percent in both Belgium and France, and by 1.2 percent in Germany.
Compared to February 2025, the volume of construction in February this year increased by 24.1 percent in Slovenia, 15.6 percent in Romania and 8.2 percent in Slovakia, while in Poland it decreased by 13.7 percent, in Spain by 10.2 percent and in France by 3.5 percent.
