Brazil exported 31,900 metric tons (MT) of rebar in March and imported 20,300 MT of products, up from 16,900 MT and 5,700 MT respectively in February.
The increase in exports reflects the resumption of exports to the United States.
March exports were destined for South America (21,700 MT at US$648 per ton) and to the USA (10,200 tons at US$548 per ton), FOB.
Imports were high mainly because Brazil received 16,400 tons from Egypt at US$533 per ton. Egypt had not supplied rebar to Brazil in the previous four months. Russia also supplied 3,900 tons at a price of $482/ton, both on FOB terms.
