The export ban is due to the fact that Iran's steel industry suffered from strikes during the conflict with Israel and the United States. According to a report published by the Iranian newspaper Etemad on Sunday, about 10 million tons of Iran's annual steel production capacity, which corresponds to 25-30 percent of the country's total steel production, shut down after damage to key facilities.
Major Iranian steel companies, including Mobarakeh Steel Company and Khuzestan Steel Company, were reportedly affected during the war. It was stated that the resulting production disruptions affected key steel-consuming sectors such as construction, automotive, and infrastructure.
