DGTR stated in its recommendation that the import of MET coke continues to pose a threat to domestic producers, and therefore it proposes to introduce a final AD fee within five years.
The recommendation is currently awaiting approval from the Ministry of Commerce, after which it will be sent to the Revenue Department under the Ministry of Finance for implementation.
DGTR's recommendation comes after the Indian government's decision last year to impose a temporary AD duty on imports of meth-coke (with ash content below 18 percent) for six months ending in June 2026 to protect domestic producers.
