According to preliminary foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's iron and steel import value rose 14.1 percent year-on-year to $1.92 billion in March this year. Iron and steel were the country's sixth-most imported product by value in the month. In the first quarter of this year, the value of imports of iron and steel into Turkey was $5.39 billion, an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period in 2025.
Meanwhile, in March, the value of imports of iron or steel products, which ranked 15th among the products with the highest import value, increased by 1.6%, amounting to $388.16 million, in while the value of its imports of iron or steel products in January-March this year increased by 9.1% to $1.13 billion, year-on-year.
