In the period from January to March, exports of iron and steel products from Japan amounted to 6.98 million tons this year, which is 10.1 percent less than in the same period of the previous year.
As for Japan's main ferrous metallurgy export markets, in the first three months of this year, the country's iron and steel exports to Thailand totaled 1.01 million metric tons, down 1.8 percent, while exports to South Korea increased 0.2 percent to 832,528 metric tons. Exports to China totaled 351,808 metric tons, down 8.4 percent, exports to the United States totaled 315,009 metric tons, up 13.9 percent, and exports to Taiwan totaled 217,304 metric tons, down 16.0 percent from the same period last year.
