Austrian steel manufacturer Wuppermann Metalltechnik GmbH (WMT), a subsidiary of the German Wuppermann Group, has announced the official opening of its new pipe plant at its site in Altmünster in Austria.
The new facility will expand WMT's production capacity and significantly expand its product range. It will produce complex specialty profiles with wall thicknesses up to 4mm, as well as pipes and profiles in an expanded range of sizes and strengths. The plant will process steel grades such as DP800, DP980 and 22MnB5, with tensile strength up to 1000 MPa.
According to the company, the new plant is equipped with fully automated warehouses for raw materials and finished products, as well as highly digitalized logistics and production processes, ensuring high efficiency. WMT said the facility also includes an integrated rolling mill and internal pipe pigging facility, enabling the production of premium products to tight tolerances. The company's existing pipe welding line will remain in operation and will be transferred to the new hall complex to improve efficiency.
“This significant investment by the Wuppermann Group has resulted in the creation of one of the most modern pipe plants in the world. This allows us to remain a quality leader for our customers, produce with maximum efficiency, benefit from a very high level of digitalization and automation, and protect European production,” oliver Rechtsprecher,
