According to the Argentine vehicle manufacturers' association ADEFA, Argentina produced 37,521 units (passenger cars and light commercial vehicles) in April, compared with 41,716 units in March, a decline of more than 10 percent.
Exports increased 0.9 percent to 26,887 units, while domestic sales fell 13.2 percent to 35,976 units. of these, only 9,748 units were produced in Argentina, reflecting the export-oriented model of the country's automotive industry.
Compared to April 2025, production in April 2026 fell by 17.5 percent, exports increased by 18.8 percent, and domestic sales fell by 31.6 percent.
According to Rodrigo Pérez Graziano, President of ADEFA: “The sector is in transition, and data for the first four months of 2026 reflects this,” he said. “Activity in April showed a dynamic in which production continues to face structural challenges.”
He added that, in addition to the impact of the holidays, the year-on-year decline was due to the adjustment process at assembly plants following the replacement of industrial proposals (new projects) and the direct impact of the cessation of production of some models.
